snapped an 8rib

At the annual swedish camaro club racing event it broke after 50 foot http://home.koping.net/u3243a/tillfalliga/belt.jpg it also smashed reducer to the heater core so it was no more racing for me
guess i have a total of 300miles on that belt (no slipping) have done a little racing an tuning, guess it should be equal to 15-20 1/4 runs...
should i expect this to happend again or is it just bad luck?
edit: 7,65 /4,13" pulley combo on an F1 13-14 psi on oure 383LT1,ported TFS heads, bauer racing custom cam (32x/33x), FMIC, water/ethanol inj..........

Bad luck. SC belts are supposed to last a long time. Alot of times they dont tho.

Use gatorback belts

You might consider higher octane fuel or a more conservative ignition tuneup. Detonation kills SC belts.

Because the crank is no longer rotating smoothly in the direction of normal rotation. It really shows up with a cogged belt. People who have had detonation problems killed belts until they got the tuneup nailed. This continues to be an issue. An F1 is a good size blower and it appears to be a new installation. My money is on the tuneup.

Re: snapped an 8rib

dont think its the tuning, have 25-24 degrees from 4500-6500, runing 93oct, 8.5 comp, FMIC (24x12x4 core), water/alky, 11.8 A/F, 2step colder plugs,13-14psi boost.
havent seen any knock counts on the scanner at WOT.
have tried it widhout the water/alcy and thats no problem either...

But i have hit the revlimiter a few times so the belt could have been damege then maybe

Havent tought about detonation should be a problem for the belt, have seen a cog equipped car that used 1 belt for every 1/4 pass, and they have had a lot of tuning problems... so i guess that could be the problem...

about gatorbacks, i cant find them here in sweden, can you tell me were in usa i can order them ???

That sounds like your problem.

As far as gatorback belts, try www.beltsforanything.com

Good luck,
Marc
