Re: Severe Backfire due to Methanol???

Were you running the same boost on the dyno when you think the valves floated? Remember that what ever boost you have is multiplied by the area of the intake valve which reduces seated spring pressure by that amount. So with 19 psi you have reduced your base pressure roughly 57 psi. Try running at the lower boost setting and activating the methanol. That will help isolate whether it is the methanol system itself or the higher boost.

Re: Severe Backfire due to Methanol???

Yes, I'm running 18 - 19 psi on the street and the dyno.

I started out thinking that the Methanol could be the problem, but don't believe that anymore. Though, it may be increasing the severity of the explosion. . .

I'm running 145 lb seat pressure, which to me, seems like about the most you want on a hydraulic roller. I've been considering installing a cam with slower ramps, though.

Bad ignition coil. I installed a new one and the problem totally went away. Methanol makes any minor backfire much more severe.
