Rookie Here

Looking to learn a little about the procharger wit aftercooler setup.
Im looking at a camaro thats been sitting for awhile that has one on it. (Lt1)
He's got a fuel cell mounted in the trunk that I guess is for the aftercooler?
What is this for, whats put in the cell? Coolant? cold water? Ice?

He's also got the crane ingition advance control in the car. Is this used to control boost?

Sorry if my questions sound stupid..Ive never owned a car with a supercharger.

Re: Rookie Here

The car also has coolant fluid in the transmission. I pulled the dipstick and theres lots of orange liquid mixed in the tranny fluid.

Should I assume that the car needs a new transmissing and radiator now?
Its been sitting like this for about a year. The guy that owns the car lots claims that all it needs is a tranny flush, and a new radiator. I think it needs a tranny...

Re: Rookie Here

Buy This car DIRT CHEAP. Have FUN with it. The ignition advance does not control boost, it controls ignition advance. Boost is controled with pulley changes. If you change to racing fuel you MAY be able to run more ignition advance. Be VERY careful with advancing your ignition!!!! Severe engine damage WILL occur if done too far.

Re: Rookie Here

The cell in the trunk should be for the coolant for the aftercooler. The procharger setups usually come with an air to air intercooler. That car is one of the only one's I've heard of with an air to water intercooler.

The crane ignition is probably to retard the timing under boost. You don't want to advance timing. Boost is similar to nitrous in that manner. You're supposed to retard so much timing for every lb of boost.

As far as the tranny...I'm clueless. I drive a 6-spd.

Re: Rookie Here

What kind of price should I offer this guy? Its been sitting at a car lot for a LONG time. About a year. The owner does not know it needs a tranny...
Its a 94 A4, paint in fair cond. tires need replacement, its got pretty low mileage on it. I think its got like 53,000 on it.

Re: Rookie Here

dude that car has been there for 3years now!!! He first wanted 13K for it. This is the Red one sitting on pine right?? If so it's got alot of parts thrown at it and it looks weel put together but 13K was way to steep. If you would like to know about a procharger setup I have one on my car your more then welcome to come over and look at it and I can help you though alot of it, also if you still need your truck done give me a shout i do have some time now that I have my car and running. It only took 4 months to get my AFR's .

Re: Rookie Here

Yeah, it the same car, but I know the guy, so I can get it a lot cheaper...

I dropped the truck off to some guy that my room mate knows..He said the turn signal switch was bad. So I just got a whole new column. He had the truck for about 4-5 weeks now. Hes just messing with it in his spare time. Ill let you know when he's done. Ill drop by your place and check out your car.
