Requirements for supercharger
Requirements for supercharger
Hi, A few questions here...1 I hear people say that for a supercharger you need a stronger bottom end and forged internals. I'm not exactly sure what this means. I want something that is going to last a lifetime. Would this engine package work well with a blower? http://www.ls1speed.com/engine3.cfm or are there cheaper ones that would do the job?
Also, 2 If i kept my regular street tires (goodyear eagle f1) I wouldn't need a new rear end correct?
thanks for the input.

Sounds like you have alot of research ahead of you.
There isnt a simple answer since you didnt ask a simple question, but here are a few basics.
One, depending on how big you want to go, you dont build a big time motor with a blower and expect lifetime reliability.
Two, you dont NEED anything other than the blower kit, but how well you want it to work, at what level, and for how long is where you start needing new parts.
Stronger internals, and specifically forged blower pistons, are the first MUST for a blower car to last a long time. Past that, you can go from mild to wild, it really depends on how much you have to spend and what you want it to do when its 'done'. Its the whole package though, you need good internals, well built, good heads, the right cam, enough fuel, good suspension, strong drivetrain, etc
On the rear end issue, it depends alot on how you drive it, what tranny you have, and dumb luck. But if you are building a bulletproof engine then your weak link moves down the line, and there is no point in going all out in 1 area and leaving the rest at the mercy of big hp/tq
