punch me in the face

so i had an opti issue a few months back and after beating my head against the wall i went with a auto zone special and its been fine ever since. well the other day i moved my blow off valve that is piped inline to the intercooler from under the hood to behind the driver side of the bumper to make clearence for the hood witch wouldnt shut flush and thats all i did i drove it down the road maybe 2 miles to make sure clamps were good and wasnt going to blow off after boost and the next morning it started i backed it out of the garage and it stalled through code p1361 i cleared it started and died imediatly like it lost fuel preasure and now i have code p1371 so my question is is it possible that moving the blow off could have caused something i dont know i know that sounds stupid but im confused. this is my daily driver and im not happy at the thought of an opti going bad after 4 months....( also the title reference is to injuneer mocking my purchase of cardone opti looks like he might get the last laugh)

Sorry Keith, but i made it 3 lines before I had to gave up reading. Does your computer not have any punctuation marks? I'm not trying to be an ***, but you would probably get more responses if people could read this like a normal paragraph.

Well, the other day, I moved my blow off valve. It was piped inline to the intercooler from under the hood. It was preventing the hood from closing all the way, and now it's behind the driver side of the bumper, so there is clearance for the hood. That's all I did, then I drove it down the road maybe 2 miles to make sure clamps were good and weren't going to blow off under boost.

The next morning, I backed it out of the garage and it stalled and threw code P1361. I cleared the code and it started but then died immediately, like it lost fuel pressure, and now I have code P1371.

So, my question is: is it possible that moving the blow off could have caused something? I know that sounds stupid but I'm confused. This is my daily driver and I'm not happy at the thought of an opti going bad after 4 months....

Fixed.

Did you wash the motor after you did the work? I have always been obsessed with a clean engine bay, and went through a number of opti's because I kept getting them wet. Just a thought.

Re: punch me in the face injuneer

wow!!!!!!!!!!! I was told it was a ruff crowd in hear but liked all the info you can get. I've got pretty thick skin though. I apoligise for the bad grammer, not my strong suit. I'm very busy painting my wifes '95 cobra and posted this very qiuckly and was very suprised after days of no responses. i cant believe its due to bad grammer. But anyways i've done alot of research on the opti's and would'nt think about washing it down. My wife swears "its because I messed with it". Wich I think its just a coincidense (may not be propper spelling). So can anything other than an opti failure throw a code p1371.

Re: punch me in the face injuneer

A messed up or corroded opti harness can also cause that code.

I just returned an O'Rielly "Rich Porter" opti. The car did not even make it off the ramps. I had problems from the first start.

Re: punch me in the face injuneer

1371 is the Opti Low Res Pulse which is basically and opti or harness issue, I think it says it can be the CPS in the timing cover if you have one, but I don't believe the CPS would cause a no start, unless you blew the ignition fuse.

1361 is the ignition control module circuit.

Crank position sensor should be a 335 code but it wouldn't cause the car to not start as it's only used for misfire detection.

OP, your best bet will probably be to replace the Autozone special with a true AC Delco opti. Probably not what you want to hear but Autozone optis are hit or miss when it comes to quality.

Re: punch me in the face injuneer

You might want to look into an LTCC setup. The opti is quite a good cam position sensor when there isn't any high voltage going through it.

Re: punch me in the face injuneer

so i took the original opti apart and found lots of rust in the sensor half. Checked the vacuum lines and the previous owner had 2 check valves running from the intake and they were both running in oposing directions. And there was no vacuum line from the back half. So no vented opti.
I went to auto zone and got a full refund after complaining about the junk opti they sold me. So i went home and ordered an AC Delco unit. I would go LTCC but dont have the cheese for that and am hoping to become a faithful opti believer after this one.
I would like some opinions on if I should do the rivit mod to the rotor or if loctite is sufficient? Im not revving over 7000rpm. Another questin I have is should I seal the cap on top of the o-ring style gasket or just depend on the oem setup. thanks for all the help keith
