Project Front Mount!

Hey I was wondering what you all think of this Idea! Im gonna remove the AC condensor/compressor and the whole system. I want to put the intercooler where the ac condesor used to sit so that it can stay hidden and also catch alot of air. Let me know all your suggestions. Also post up pics of lt1s with front mounts !!

I'm not sure, but putting the intercooler right infront of the radiator might not be the best idea as far as keeping the motor temp down, since it will not only be a restriction, but will heat the air up going to the radiator as well. Mounting the IC up further allows it to get it's air from the front of the car, while the air deflector will direct cool air from underneath to the radiator.

Re: Project Front Mount!

The easiest way to do it is to remove the front crash support and mount the intercooler there. If you've got an ATI 3-core, it'll mount up almost perfectly w/ the holes on the frame butts. There's several sites that show how to do this. I wish I would've taken more pics when I had it on my car though. I don't think you'll have much room where the AC condenser was.

There is a thread on www.ls1tech.com in the FI section with pictures of like 20 different FMIC setups.

I took out my front bumper support and ac.

Re: Project Front Mount!

Hi Corey, its pretty simple to do if you mount it to the bumper support and gives you awesome ground clearance on both camaro's and firebirds alike(stock ground clearance) Excellent airflow to the FMIC on both models too.

just an idea of how to do it. Probably have to click on the links tho
****pics down sorry****
