Procharger tuning questions?
I read through the GREAT beginner tutorial, giant thanks. The question I have is on where to start tuning. Ive got 42 lbs injectors, a walbro 255 intank pump, a p600b, and want to run 3 or 4 lbs of boost to start with. I have tuner cat and am not afraid to use it, lol. Does anybody have a blower tune I could start with or pointers. The car is a 97 m6 SS with a OBD1 change over. Shorty headers, no cats, and a flowmaster american thunder cat back. Thanks in advance. Eric L
Well if you were still OBD2 I could help you. Ive been tuning mine using 2 Bar Speed Density and it works great. I'm located near Plainwell (Martin is only 8 minutes from my house) so if you want to check out my tune you could come over and I could print out the complete file or figure out a way to run Compare-it and you can see what the differences are between the two. I'm turbo but I'm sure the tune would not be terribly difficult to get right on a blower.
Sorry it took so long to get back to ya, its been a busy week. Do you tune with a wideband o2 at all? Im just getting my ducks in a row before I dive into this swap. I have made some adjustments to the timing and afr tables with tunercat (OBD1). So far its coming along well. I think im going to run the stock elbow and maf location and vent the blow off to atmosphere. I also plan on trying to run the factory fpr with 42 lb injectors. Thanks for the offer, we'll have to hook up some time and talk car ****, lol. Thanks again for the help, Eric L
I have a 97ss 383ci D1 MM6. I did run a P600b in the past and went to the D1 after the move to the 383. I still use the OBD2 PCM, and, flash program with Carputing LT1 edit version 2.2. Running 72# Seimens Peak&Hold with an acceleronics driver. I finally used a DynoJet WB O2 sensor to tune with success. It really helped with both closed loop and WOT mode. I finally have it running good in closed loop mode with 14.7:1 AFR and about 12.8 afr @ WOT. It has good street drivability and idle now. Close to 15psi max boost @ the manifold.
I also have an OBD1 PCM, but, the tune is no good. I have recently purchased TunerCATS, and, plan to build a tune with similar calibrations of my OBD2 PCM. I am currently running the OBD2 PCM with alot of engine and driveline mods. B.

Sorry, Only tune I have is for OBD II. There is a used Wideband Commander in the for sale section right now.
First thing to do is make a copy of your stock tune because 90% of your tune will remain stock. Make this a read only file and don't change it! Post the following numbers in your "Main spark advance vs Rpm vs Map" and "Extended spark advance vs rpm vs map" These came in a mail order tune when I was running a P1SC. These all go in the 100 KPA map column. Anytime you are boosting the motor these timing numbers will be used because Map will be above 100KPA. All the other timing advance numbers can stay stock. After that you will need to make a 3rd gear pull or a dyno pull with a wideband and see where your AFR is at. If your AFR and timing are correct you can consider your tune safe. Maybe not squeezing every bit of power out of it but safe.

Yea, I have a wideband on my car and live by it. I also have the factorey regulator but with 60lb injectors...works good for me. Like the last poster said you really just need safe timing and fuel at 100KPA if you stay 1 bar. With a bunch of work we could probably remove my wideband and do a temp install to set up your car....
E-mail me at Guitarman03@Charter.net if you want to come over and see what we can do.
Email sent guitar man. Thanks EVERYONE for all the help. I have been playing with my fuel/air ratio tables and re calculating my afr. It is coming in right around 11-11.7.....................does this sound safe for 6 psi? I also set the computer to see full throtle (i.e. power enrichment mode) at 20% tps. Anyother tips would be appreciated. But I think I almost got a good base tune to run with................................god I hope, lol. Thanks again everyone. Eric L
