Procharger - just change the pistons??
Hello - I have a 94 camaro z28 m6. I posted many threads on forced induction. I just went on ebay and saw a camaro procharger 12 pounds boost - I emailed him. He only changed the pistons internal wise. He used the stock crank and rods. Will I be safe doing the same. Just change the pistons - or rods to??? Also for the rearend he has a 12 bolt with 4:30 gears. Is that too much gear for a procharger. I was thinking about doing the same but I will run a slick for traction.

If you're going to change the pistons then you should drop the compression a C/H. Forged pistons will help but there are alot of ancilliary things you need to consider and blowers are not just a set em and forget em kind of proposition. Figure a good grand plus on other stuff to support this system, new injectors, boost and fuel pressure gauges, PCM tuning, ignition upgrades, possible fuel pump upgrades, new spark plugs (not big money but you can't run platinums). Then you start to run more power and the tranny goes (if A4) and then it's time to think about a rear end.
3.73 gears are all I'd go on a M6 and 3.42 for an A4, haven't heard of 4.30's thought it went 4.10 then 4.56 on a 12 bolt.
Boost is also addictive, I started with 7 and look where I'm at now
How many miles on your setup? If it's a 94 then good chances are you have some miles and need to do a real rebuild and have the block checked, wouldn't be a bad time to install some splayed main caps but then you got to linebore the block....I spent almost a grand at the machine shop on my block.
It just snowballs, hell you might as well put a bigger cam in (ching), heads (ching, ching)....etc......it never ends

Marc is right, it never ends....
Anyway, the stock PM rods have seen some failures in higher horse applications, that's why I decided to install h-beams. the PM rods are not a true forging, but a casting. Those PM rods are supposedly only good to 500 horse. Anything above that, you are at risk.
The stock crank has held up great on my motor, stock 2 bolt mains too (just arp bolts).
