Procharger install help
Procharger install help
I am working on installing a used procharger p1sc on a 95 Camaro. I have come up with a couple problems and could use some advice.
The first issue is the coil/ignition module does not even come close to fitting on the head unit bracket as the instructions say. The head unit sits too high up and there is not enough room. What other options are there for mounting the coil unit?
The second problem is with regards to the intake system. What holds it all in place? The instructions show a bracket of some type but make no other mention of this piece. The piece was also not in the kit if there even is one. I know the whole intake has to be supported somehow. The orange piece is way to flimsy to be supporting it all.
The next is a strange one. The previous owner seemed to tap the metal intake (the one closest to the tb) for what looks like a boost gauge fitting. Would this be a good place for a boost gauge fitting?
The third is a simple one, where would be the best location to tee into for the boost line to the fmu.
Thanks for any help you guys can provide! These install instructions just seem too vague with poor pictures for some of this stuff.

Re: Procharger install help
I can only answer a couple of your questions.
That place on the I/C tube before the throttle body would not be a good place to put in your boost gauge.
As far as a boost reference for the FMU goes, you can tie into almost any vacuum port coming off he intake manifold. What ProCharger does on their Corvette kits is, they provide a small vacuum manifold that you place in the vacuum line for your brake booster. It has 3 vacuum nipples on it, so you can hook up your FMU, boost gauge, and your surge valve. You could even call ATI and buy one to simplify things.

Re: Procharger install help
Are you sure it wasn't a nitrous or alcohol nozzle? Right before the TB is where most people have them.
I know Vortech supplies a piece of bent sheet metal for their coil bracket. You may be able to use on of theirs. How exactly does ATI say you're supposed to mount it?
You definately want to run the boost gauge and FMU off of manifold vacuum.

Re: Procharger install help
They say it attaches to the actual head unit bracket however it does not fit. ATI tech support said it is supposed to fit there. If anyone had a pic how theirs is that would be awsome.
