Problems with Procharger D1-SC setup

Could all of you supercharger gurus look at this thread? I have been having problems after the install of a Procharger D1-SC. I posted it in the diagnostics section not knowing what the problem is. Thanks! https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/sho...47#post5377447

Ray,

When going boosted like this and just getting it in, there are always bugs and things to be worked out to get it running properly. Keep patient, and persistant with it, and I'm sure you'll get it worked out.

I would reccomend runnning a program such as LT1 edit, or something to data log you current issue, and then send back to the diagnostic section, or even the tuning section for specific advise on what is really going on and what you need to do to resolve it. At this point, I really think it could be anything, and the best way to better narrow it down would be to data log it.

Thanks, I have logged it with Datamaster and it is showing some knock retard still. I have posted in the scan and tune. I'm not sure, I have tried to post the log but I'm not sure how too. I can e-mail it to anyone that would look at it for me. It also acts like it is skipping. Would it help if I changed my plug gap from 35 to 40 thousanths? Thanks.

If you're getting knock retard, you might try running some race gas through it and see if that solves your problem. If so, you might benefit greatly from going with a methanol injection setup like myself and many others have done.

I wouldn't mind doing that if I could find some around here without the lead.

You can order some "octane booster" just about anywhere, like a local speed shop, you can also get race gas at most race tracks, or you can always look online. Anyway you do it, I would try a tank full and see if it helps, if so, you know you would benefit from running it all the time, or going the cheeper/easier route with meth injection. That also would be an indicator that you are running too much boost and or timing for your given CR and setup.

Thanks, I will have to locate some race gas. I don't believe you can get but maybe a point of octane from a little bottle of octane booster. Can You?

I run a NGK TR6 @ 28 thou

I had to try a few sets of plugs before I found the right gap where the spark wold not blow out.

Do any gas stations around you sell E85 ? You could run a 1-2 gallons of E85 with 12 gallons of 91-93 oct and it will act as a octane booster.

I was running the TR6 plug till Bryan Herter told me that he has had problems with them so I switched to an autolite 103.
We don't have any stations around with E85. Anyway, I am going to go out and try lowering the gap.
What did your car run like when it was plowing out the spark? I have never had the problem to know what it does.

I ran some 103s... I didnt care for them much and they fouled up on my quick.. I also have a tune from Bryan

when the spark blows out it just feels like a missfire..a studder if you will, not a nice clean pull.

close the gap up on a fresh set of 103s...and try and find some no lead or low lead 100oct or 105 oct ... sometimes I run low lead..its fine if you dont have cats and you run a shielded 02 sensor

The octane booster can raise your octane several points depending on how much you use per how much gas is in your tank.

Guys, I went out today and closed the gap up on 103 plugs I had in the car to 30 thousanths and it still does it. If I push the peddle down nice and easy it doesn't studder all the way up threw the RPM range but if I push the peddle down fast it studders.
I am going to pick up some TR6 plugs tomorrow and try gapping them to 28 thousanths. I am also asking around for some unleaded race fuel.

Sounds like your Air fuel ratio at WOT is way off. Mine will do that when I go richer than 10 to 1. You should get a wideband on it. AFR is crucial for power and reliability on blown cars.
