Powerdyne vs. Vortech

Trying to decide which to get, or is there something better for my 1999 Z28?

Thanks!

I would rule out the Powerdyne if you're looking to make serious power. I'm more of a fan of ATI blowers personally. This type of question is pretty common, do a search. You can get more info from ATI at www.procharger.com.

Re: Powerdyne vs. Vortech

i just finished my vortech install with aftercooler. its insanely fast. i didnt expect this much power at all! im running really rich with the vortech fuel components so id expect even more power after i get her running right.

to give you an idea of the power gains.......1st and 2nd gears (stock 3:42s) are no good, tires just go up in smoke without even putting the pedal to the floor.

How much boost are you running?

Re: Powerdyne vs. Vortech

just 6psi. but i heard that the aftercooler reduces it down to about 5psi. i could use some new tires though. but in anycase the car will be hard to launch from a dead stop. 1st will still definately need to be used with a very light foot.

Re: Powerdyne vs. Vortech

Personally I have had issues in the past with my ATI blowers, the tensioners are junk and the old seals in the self contained units are leaky. I currently have a D1sc and am kind of pleased with it, but it only has a couple hundred miles onit. I have heard good things about vortechs (my cousin has one on his vette). But I never really hear anything positive about Powerdyne. Any route you decide to go start saving for a motor rebuild.

Why should he save for a motor rebuild? Granted forged pistons are a good idea, but there are people out there with 40K+ miles on the stock engines pushing 6+ PSI.

Case in point...if your tune is good, you don't need a motor rebuild.
