powerdyne crank pulley

I bought a used powerdyne"kit" for my 95 z28 and after i paid for it the seller miraculously remembered that the crank pulley was damaged and did not come with the "kit". Can i use my stock pulley for this and if not does anyone have a part number for one i can use. I have bought an upgraded internal belt and bearings and would like to use the 2.7 in. pulley, shooting for 6 psi or so.Also does anyone have a recommendation on which bypass valve to use. I am new to the supercharger thing and any help would be appreciated. Thanks

are you talking about your balancer/pulley or the actually pully for the SC? if its yoru stock balancer you can use it.. i used mine you might have too put some washers in between the pully and balancer along with a few other little modifications but i ran it just fine without any problems.. just make sure the belt tracks well

No need for a bypass valve if your only running 6 psi. My crank pulley was removed and i added the one in the kit. It extends out to add the new belt. I assume they sell them through Powerdyne. The most important thing is to take a ruler and make sure the crank and the sc unit are parallel and you don't have anything kinked. The web site has full instructions and full tech support. Is your unit a 4.5 or 6.5 and what are the serial numbers on the thing? I have several thing i found that were bad and allowing air to leak in where it shouldn't. I could save you a ton of time if you like. Also if you want to run 6 psi you need an inline fuel pump and the msd ignition. I assume it also came with the fmu. Good luck and welcome to the world of forced induction.

The powerdyne unit is a bd-11a, it is a 4.5 psi unit but i recently bought a "heavy duty"belt/bearing upgrade kit off of ebay so it should be able to handle the smaller 2.7 in sc pulley that i would like to buy from what i have been told. I have a crane hi6r ignition box and i am looking to buy the retard box for it. The kit also came with an inline fuel pump and the fmu. So i guess i may need to buy the crank pulley,it is pretty expensive through powerdyne...Is there any second source seller for this that you know of? I would try using washers to line up the belt but that does sound like a hassle unless you think it is worth a shot to save some cash. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated, i am counting on the install being a pain since the kit is used i am sure some of the hardware is probly missing....I have a post up in parts wanted if you guys have some extra parts sitting around that you dont need.. thanks. jason hall

Go to the Powerdyne website and then the install manual. On page 5 illustration 10 & 11 is the pulley you need. Go to Summitracing.com and look at the one for sale. It show the parts you need. Let me know what you got and i can see what i can do. You will need some hoses for sure since i don't think he would strip the car down competely.

I would be curious how the rebuild goes on the head unit. I have a new belt and am wondering how to install it.

I saw an old post and one guy says he can change the belt and he has no real mechanical skills. I assume it very straight forward but thats easy for me to say since i have not attempted it myself. If you put "Powerdyne" in the search box you can read for hours and find tons out.

i guess i just dont understand what the advantage is to using the aftermarket crank pulley verses the stock one. I am assuming that the aftermarket one lines up better. After i think about it though , i would guess you could shim it up pretty good, i seen some aftermarket shims for sale on ebay. Also do you guys know the cheapest place to pick up a fuel pressure guage, i cant seem to find a used one. Thanks

If you want a hand held one most auto parts stores have them for 20.00. I think we are thinking two different things. The stock crank pulley has one belt to run the entire car. When you add a supercharger you get a pulley with 2 belt slots. The charger runs is own belt so it will extend out a bit to line up with the sc unit. You need to go to the pages i mentioned earlier to see the way they look.

cool, i got the picture now, i have read various post searching other threads and have seen most people say it is best to run a 7 inch crank pulley with the 4.5psi blower pulley, which i already have the 4.5 psi pulley. I will look up asp racing since it looks like they make this pulley. As always it looks like i have a new issue that i knew i would have to address pretty soon. Basically i got a great deal on my car , paid 1100.00 for it with 85000 on the motor but transmission has no reverse, well today i took it out to the local track that had a mustang club show up. I really never new how damn slow they were until today. I basically ran better than 90% of them even though i was having hell going into 3rd gear, rev limiter kept bouncing. The best i ran was 14.1 with rev limiter hitting 3 times. I have a local transmission shop who is going to build me up a good transmission but i would like to know if you guys recomend a differnt stall than stock. Hopefully i will have 6 psi through the powerdyne and i have 3.23 gears. Damn the new mustangs usually ran 14.2-14.5, what dogs... The mustang guys were pretty cool , but i was expecting a little more out of them.I think the car to watch is that damn suburu, one ran a 12.9 at only 105 mph, those things really hook up...

I did a search on Yahoo after i installed the unit and found one guy who had the entire instructions in normal english for those who have limited knowledge of the LT1. He had several tips and listed a couple of steps not necessary like cutting the fan shroud and on and on. I will put the link if i find it again. The Powerdyne manual is the worst written guide i have seen to date. I spent hours trying to figure out what the hell they were talking about on a lot of stuff. You get some lower rear gears and that unit on there you will be in the 12's. As soon as you get all done i would recommend a tune and have them raise the limiter on both the rpm's and the top speed.
