Poll: SS and Supercharged

Okay, all I am trying to capture is the number of 96 and 96 SS cars that have ATI Superchargers (P1SC).

Why?
Can we build an intake that uses our ram-air hoodscoop and stock aircleaner to route to the supercharger?

I don't have a '96 or a supercharger, so I'll abstain from voting.

Seems to me that it'd be difficult to plumb the intake to the SS scoop and still get good flow.

I doubt you would really gain anything from utilizing the factory SS hood, as with ATI units on our cars and the location they are in down low, by the time the air actually was brought to the blower, I doubt it would gain you anything over how the setup comes from ATI.

I think it would be interesting to see a procharger setup that draws air from the stock filter of the SS. It wouldnt have a performance advantage, but still would be cool to do.

Given that most guys who run a Procharger on their cars are more into performance, I doubt there will be enough people interested in this idea. I know lots of guys with SS's that took out the factory piece just to go with the CAI from up front and down low just because it has been proven to give more HP than the SS functional hood does.

I have a 97ss with Procharger D1. I did not plumb the hood scoop inlet the the blower inlet. Headers were in the way, and, not a straight path the the D1 inlet. Also, the ABS unit is an obstruction, but, could be removed. The instructions I had located the inlet low on drivers side inside the front facia. I've since went to all hard pipe which improved air flow alot. B. (97ss - 383 - D1 - M6)

What he said. You don't want air that's already been heated by the engine to go into a supercharger that's going to heat it more.

I was even thinking of doing the same thing with the intercooler (like a WRX). Even though it wouldn't have fit anyway, the heat was more of the deciding factor.

not practical what so ever. I used to think up ideas like this when i was 17 (not bashing you at all) i than posted the question and totally got shot down.
You would be better off doing a fmic setup and run a p1 or d1.

I'm really beyond the need for more horsepower now. I realize that the setup would not improve the performance one iota, but probably result in less power overall. But the SS hoodscoop is effectively reduced to a pretty bow tie for now, and if it can add a little pizazz to the underhood look, then I'm willing to put a few bucks into it. I also realize that any reasonable construction to make it work would be very limited to making maybe one or two units.

But if I had my SS ram air plumbed to the supercharger, my car would be the most bitchen of them all and you would be very jealous!!! It may not be faster, but it looks really cool.

(of course, if I need more power, all I have to do is just change the pulley, but with $4/gal lately, my right foot has tranformed from being constructed of hardend-lead to helium-filled styrofoam)
