pistons

What are some good dished forged pistons for a 355 blower motor? I'm looking for something that is quality but won't break the bank.

Re: pistons

SRP's cost a little more but are lighter than the Speedpro/TRW slugs. I got mine from scoggin dickey in a warrior pack that came with rings.

Re: pistons

I bought Diamond's D shaped Blower/turbo piston. They are a very good piston at a very good price. I did a lot of searching and found that most of the SRP pistons are made from 4032 aluminum which is a lower grade. IF you check with JE, their pistons are made from 2618 aluminum which is a stronger, higher grade. Diamond's Blower piston is made of 2618 aluminum also and is a blower specific piston for the price of an SRP piston. Better materials, better price.....JMO!

Re: pistons

Here is a quote from Diamond Racing's Q&A on their website.

What material are your pistons made from?
We use two different materials, 2618 & 4032. 2618 is used in most of our severe duty / power adder applications. It requires slightly more piston to wall clearance and can stand up to the abuse of a power adder. 4032 is used for applications that are more on the mild side. 4032 has less of a expansion rate which allows us to use it with tighter piston to wall clearances. This is great for direct replacement factory pistons. Call one of our tech's and they will let you know which material is good for your application.

This is from SRP's description of their blower piston.

8.0-11.1 Compression Ratio

Forged from 4032 low expansion high silicon aluminum alloy heat treated to SRP specifications
Ring land and crown thickness specifically engineered for turbo, supercharged and nitrous applications
Forced Pin Oiler for increased wrist pin lubrication
Pin fitting and double spiro locks included
927-2750-150 wall wrist pin (130 grams) included
CNC Machined ring grooves accept 1/16 1/16 3/16 rings (Rings Sold Seperately)
Optional tool steel pins available.
Food for thought if you are wanting durability with price!

Are you ones you got the 126-11420 w/-22 dish 4.030 bore? And what about the 126-09014030 diamond pro-select rings 4.030 bore? These things are $617 a set with $120 for the rings.

Re: pistons

I paid about $590 for my SRP pistons AND rings from scoggin dickey. What do the diamonds weigh?

Re: pistons

it don't say in thunder racing. You said you rebuilt 4 yrs ago and you put those SRP pistons in there then? How have they been holding up? These diamonds are going to be like $740 with the rings. I would like to stay cheaper if i can. Also...I can't find the srp dished pistons in Scoggin Dickey. Do they not carry them anymore?

Re: pistons

They are about 4.5 years old and have 14K. My friend has them too, thay work fine. You get what you pay for, more money spent the lighter the piston, the diamonds may be lighter, I think the TRW;s weight 565 and the SRP's weigh 495. Try calling them, thats what I had to do, it was called the warrior package if you got them with rings. Tyr a few different places and check prices.

Re: pistons

I paid $559.00 for my Diamond Blower Pistons but I haven't purchased the rings yet. I'm probably going with Hell Fire's or Total Seal's. I'll have to check the box to see how much the Diamond's weigh.
