paxton opinions and advice needed
Hi all. Yes, I'm new around here. I was wondering if you could help me out with this. I've got this guy who will sell me his paxton NOVI 6-8 psi kit that has never been installed. The price on it is 1500 bucks and it's deffinetly all there. So that got my interest. I've got my engine out doing a forged internal up grade 355 with a CC 224/230 cam. I've heard good and bad on the Paxton products. If I buy this thing will I have to get a different cam now? Also, what is NOVI all about? I checked out paxtons web site and didn't get much from it. Thanks in advance for anyone that can help me out with this.
I haven't heard anything bad about the gear-driven Paxtons, just stay away from the ball-driven units.
Even though it diverges from the commonly accepted supercharger cam logic, the 224/230 cam is probably not a bad choice providing it's on a 112 LSA. I know of an ATI supercharged LT1 car that pulled 147 mph in the quarter with that very cam in a 355.

I got an entire GSS/SN93 kit for $850 with a rebuilt head unit.
I then had a custom header primary made because the intake tubing interfered with the long tubes and there was no way to re-work the intake tubing.
In all, I spent right at $1,000 for 6-8 psi of boost... The superfueler and MSD box alone are worth that much, so I don't feel I got a bad deal by going with an inferior head unit.
I'm looking for a procharger and bracket to replace the current head unit because this one won't be sufficient for the new motor. I'll sell this blower/bracket assembly and probably recoup $500.
If 6-8 psi is all you ever will want, it's a hell of a deal, but you might be rebuilding the head unit a little more often than the competitors (I've seen the head units last around 30-60k miles on average, with regular oil changes. The paxtons use F-Type transmission fluid)
