P600b that new and been sitting for 5 years

I just got the car in the sig a while back and so far have done the mods in the sig including suspension and Corvette brakes. It came with a brand new p600b. I have everything and all the hoses etc. were still in the bags. The Blower and kit have never been installed. It has been sitting for 5-6 years and was never installed by the previous owner.

So my question is. Is the Blower ok after sitting for so long even though its brand new? I mean everything is flawless. The blower is still shiny (its polished) hoses and ducting are also in good shape but I'm worried about the bearing mainly in the blower.

Thanks

Yeah I did not even think of the seals. I'm overseas at the moment and won't be home till November or so. I want to make sure I have my "to do" list in order for when I get back. I plan on yanking the motor and tranny and getting a little wild with the car.

With no oil getting on the seals for a few years, chances are they are dry-rotted. I'd send it back to ATI for a re-seal.

Its $75 to replace the input seal and have the blower inspected. The impeller seal will probably be just fine as its a teflon seal. Just don't play with it and spin the input while its off the car.

No, he's not joking. With the input seal sitting that long without any lubrication, they often dry out. Then, once it is installed on the car and fired for the first time, the shaft drags on the seal and rips it. Then you have a massive leak on your hands. I've seen it many times.

You'd be better off sending it to ATI for a new seal. Like Mark posted above, it's only $75.
