Opinion: ATI Procharger on 96 LT1 with 100k

Has anyone SC their BStock motor with 100km wear. If yes, I was wondering how long before you needed a rebuild if at all. The guys at ATI say you can, but I would like to hear from you guys that have actually done so. ATI recommended a stage 2 P1 with twin intercooler. Essentially in a "I've got $ oozing from my pockets world" I would love to do a rebuild and SC all at once, but would you guys rebuild>SC or SC with 100K> rebuild?

BTW my car & motor is running great.

My buddy slapped a P600b on a stock 95 with no tuning and then decided to take it WOT. It lasted that one time, and we rebuilt the motor. 5 broken pistons. He did a stock rebuild with forged pistons and it lasted the next 3 years till he got rid of it. Had he changed some things in the tune B4 WOT it may have lived a little longer

An engine is already worn at 100K miles. Adding ~40+% or more horsepower isn't going to help it live longer...

Sorry about the lingo.....by saying "100K" I meant 100 KMS or 60K miles. I'd just do a rebuild at 100K miles.

A supercharger on a stock bottom end and stock pistons is a recipe for a large cash investment.

the 117LSA cam in the '96s makes for better power than some of the other years, but it also puts more stress on the internals. it could last anywhere from 5 miles to 30,000 miles. no one knows. the only way to find out is to try it. if you can't have engine downtime, rebuild first, boost later.

Thanks for the replies, I might now be leaning towards a head/cam/PCM, the downtime and sudden costs of a blown motor after spending all that cash on a SC sounds frightening. I think I'll still enjoy it, then rebuild and then SC for the finale.
