No FMU???

I don't understand how you run no FMU. I heard you just get big freakin injectors but how does that work. If anyone could help me get the light bulb in my head to come on that would be great.

Re: No FMU???

Thats really about it, you need injectors big enought to supply the fuel required for the air you're putting in. The injectors need to be big enough to fuel the engine without having to jack the pressure up to 70 psi like the FMU does, once the computer is set for the larger injectors the computer will add fuel as necessary for the airflow going into the engine, however most blown cars will max out the MAF reading and will need to have fuel added in the PE (power enrichment) tables in the computer. So to sum it all up, you need bigger injectors and computer tuning.

You hit a certain point though where your gonna need a F.A.S.T. system or something of that nature, especially when you are talking high boost with large injectors or large amounts of nitrous

Re: No FMU???

Your MAF sensor monitors the air entering the engine and your injectors supply the fuel. The stock injectors can't deliver enough fuel, so a FMU supplies more fuel by bumping up the fuel pressure. This is a crude way of adding more fuel. By going to bigger injectors (and reprogramming the computer to know it's running bigger injectors) the computer will command the fuel injectors to add the right amount of fuel. This works well for modest blower applications. Once you get above 450 or so rwhp you need fuel injectors that are too big for the stock computer to "drive", at this point you need to step up to a Versafueler that will allow you to use low impedance fuel injectors that will still provide good idle quality yet feed the fuel requirements of a high horsepower motor.
