nitrous express co2 intercooler chiller

anyone have one of these or know someone thats using one? basically uses co2 which is real cheap and cools your intercooler. i think jegs has it for 369.00 without a bottle ....i may get one...was wondering what benefits anyone has had with one?

Is there much of a difference in the bottle and solenoids between CO2 and N20 set up. Could parts be used interchangeably?

The only difference is that with CO2 you need a different valve. You can use the same bottle. They will retrofit a bottle if you need it.

Careful- I have seen some bottles rated for Co2 and nitrous n2o.

I'd say use Co2 over nitrous any day of the week. It's cheaper and works just as well. We are talking about spraying the outside of the intercooler here, right? You DONT want to spray Co2 into the engine!

CO2 is used as a fire extinguishing agent.... I'm just guessing here but it probably wouldn't do much for enhancing combustion

The CO2 is sprayed into the intake gas stream, presumably after the MAF. It is an "inert" gas, much the same as water injection. It won't upset the A/F ratio like N2O. CO2 injection shouldn't affect the A/F ratio very much at all if it is injected after the MAF, in comparison with N2O which makes the engine much leaner. The injected CO2 would tend to dilute the intake charge and thus make the A/F ratio a bit richer.

It will also, due to the latent heat of vaporization, reduce the temperature of the intake charge by a few degrees, thus warding off detonation.

FWIW, I wouldn't use CO2. If you're making that much power ... in excess of 700rwhp and still feel the need for more, then a person should go with the N2O and more fuel. And if this car is destined for the streets, then you may want to put some $ away for the "shrink" .... cause you really do need psychiatric help.

Hope this helps

well..the kit was 400.00 from jegs with a 10lb bottle. i can still use the bottle for nos later on. i'll see if it helps cool the intercooler alot. co2 is so cheap i just figured the cost of using it..would be very little..its a street car..this thing is just somethin to tinker with ..see how it works..i'll try and get pre and post hp numbers. then we all can make a judgement on if its worth it or not

Will the 10# bottle fit in the grocery well in back??

I was considering a small shot of NOS ... for emergencies.

It's a toss up, more toys for the car or an appointment with the shrink ... the shrink lost ...

Mount it where you usually store the spare tire.

And I'm not talking about under your shirt.

yea i dont have alot of room under the shirt..theres a large tire there already...heh but ive heard...it should sit horizontal..i dont think theres alot of space where the spare is..to sit it vertical maybe...perhaps it dont matter it not being nos etc.i'll figure somethin out heh
