The turbo I am using is a T67 upgrage from STS. I have no idea what HP gains I will see but I am excited about the project. Hopefully we can get some numbers up whenever the shop is finished with the vehicle. Hopefully by next summer I will have saved enough money for the new rearend. Question I have is how many LB of boost you think I can put on this motor?

You should check with the engine builder, but I'm planning on running 15 #'s on the street on pump gas, that's with 8.5:1. I have a similar project going for my LS1. Good luck, it should rip!!

Re: New motor and new turbo for STS system

on pump gas, i would say your max psi would be 9 or 10, considering there isn't an intercooler. you could get the methanol upgrade, which i would suggest since you are getting the bigger turbo, which will let you run higher boost.

at 7 psi, you would be around 595 hp @ 5500 rpm and 569 lb/ft torque at 4000 rpm (according to dyno advanced engine simulator).

thats on pump gas (w/o methanol).

and a little side note b/c i've been going back and forth on who i should have port my heads and where to get the cam from. lloyd elliot will do a cam for how many lbs of boost you want to run for the same price as any other le1/le2/le3 package, that way you get a cam that is designed for you setup, instead of the 12 psi blower cam you posted.

I would also recommend getting your cam through Lloyd Elliot for price/feature. Go with something completely custom and fully billet since you're already spending the money.

I didn't even notice there was no intercooler listed. That will definitely be your limiting factor. With all the stuff your doing, why not go with a FMIC?

Hey guys,
Thank you for all the good advise. I should have inquired before starting this project. I do relize there will be some limiting factors of this project. As I get the time and $$$, these other items will be added. Thank you all again for the information and support.

Re: New motor and new turbo for STS system

Finially got the car out of the shop, dam this thing has a lot of HP. No numbers yet. I got to put some miles on the car. I can tell it has a lot more HP than the stock engine. Once I put about 4 or 5 hundred miles, the shop is going to tune it.

I tried to go for inspection and smog the other day, but they claim they herd an exhaust leak (yea, right ). I took it home and found a loose header bolt on the passenger side and I tighten it. But I dont hear any difference. I am afraid that I am going to have to pay this idoit to fix what he claims he hears. Other than that the car runs great, starts right up. The tuner calls it a beast and says that we should get over 500RWHP which is plenty for me now.

Re: New motor and new turbo for STS system

Dog-gone-it
Took the car for a couple of pulls yesterday. We blew the CAT, stuff everywhere. After inspection found that there was no turbo damage. The rest of the stuff was blown out and everything else was installed back with a vacant CAT. The car is much louder and you can hear the cam lope and turbo wine. When ithe CAT blew, it went up to 380HP with over 400lbtq at 42000 RPM. The car was shutdown immiately once the CAT blew so I don't have the full numbers at WOT. Hopefully will get some good numbers next week.

Gotta watch those digits. The guy that made the commit has been a STS hater for a while
