New to Camaros. Supercharger Question
New to Camaros. Supercharger Question
I just got a 1983 z28 automatic. Im going to replace the engine because there was a screw dropped in it somewhere by the previous owner's mechanic. I think I'm just gona go with another 305 but I want more power. I dont know anything at all about superchargers. There car is completely stock right now. I wana go for somewhere around 500 rear wheel horsepower. With supporting performance parts, what would be an idea choice for a supercharger? Im new to this. Im use to turbo inline 6 engines (supras) so Im starting all over with these muscle cars.
500 on a 305 is a TALL order.
Honestly I would look at putting an lsx into the car. Heads + cam on an ls would go much further than anything on a 305.
I like the third gen body styles but you are wasting money by replacing/rebuilding that motor.

Here is a link to some discussion regarding the 305cid motor. I believe there are some links in the thread that will show some pretty fast 305's.

Although, I would have to agree with jsetzer's post. There are some nice "create" engines availavle for a reasonable price (some are forced induction specific) that will make some good power, either on their own of with the help of a nitrous kit or turbo/supercharger. Dollar for dollar, N2O is going to be hard to beat. Do some research before you make any serious decisions and any way you choose to go, be prepared to spend some $$$coin$$$.
