Need some help with boost issues
Hey fellas.
I was driving my car the other day and i noticed my boost guage wasn't going over 8 or 9 PSI at full throttle/6k RPM. I popped the hood, and I noticed that one of the ribs on my 6 rib belt was GONE. I figured this was the culprit, everything else looked solid as a rock, so I put on the new belt (with the svi kit, I have to pull the supercharger to get the belt in the right place)
Put a new belt on (gatorback 6 rib) and drove it a few miles, even less boost now, and after about 10 miles, I had another 5 rib belt mod
. after looking under the car, the belt was one rib back from where it should have been on the balancer.
I started to wonder if the hub was spinning on the crank (no key), so I get under the car, and the bolt was pretty loose. It also appeared if the pulley was forward on the crank just a bit (maybe 1/16-1/8th of an inch). I tapped it with the impact a few times, and it seems to go back in. Moved the belt back to the right grooves, and hasn't jumped back over again. I also put a mark on the balancer bolt and a matching line on the hub, and went out and hammered it several times. Got back and checked and lines were exact same place (did this several times to make sure). I am pretty sure the hub isn't spinning, but is there a better way to tell for sure?
Now the problem. STILL having boost issues. Sometimes it will go to 10+ on the guage, and sometimes it will no go past 7 under the same circumstances. When it wont go past 7, you can see the boost guage fluctuating back and forth some, maybe 1/2 PSI. At the same time I THINK i can hear the intake whine surging a little.
One thing i was thinking of is maybe ignition issues. I used to be able to wash my motor, but now if I even try, the car will not run for a while, and will sputter for 1-2 days afterwards. It has the stock opti (29k miles on the car) and I was wondering if the opti could make the boost fluctuate like that with bad signal?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
