need some advice felpro or impala head gaskets ?
OK refreshing my motor specs 383 Fully built 4bolt main eagle rods and cranck 31 cc dished srp pistons cc305 cam pro charged 15 pound pulley i see about 10-11 pounds on motor. (arp studs on the heads)
I am going back and forth on the felpro 1074 or the impala head gaskets. i have done some research but there is no good threads to discuss which ones to use and why ... currently i have the felpro 1074 on my motor but dam they are expensive i don't remember paying almost 70.00 + each 6 years ago .. or maybe i am getting old lol so at this time i am refreshing up the motor and would like to find the best head gasket bang for the buck fpr my application (maybe there has been some new stuff out there that offers the same performance for a good price...

The 1074's are proven and many here use them without issue, including myself. Think you answered your own question. You've had them in there for 6 years you say? If it were me, i'd be using them again...

What is the deck height and what heads/chamber size?
9:1 is low for a boosted LT1, if the pistons are down a little you could gain some compression using the b-body gasket or consider Cometic offers a .027 which would be bulletproof so long as the surfaces on the heads and block are well machined.

As the 9.1 compression even when i did not runt the blower for a while the motor still had plenty of power with the srp inverted dome 31 cc pistons..

Yes i think you are right ... i am going with the 1074's again just wanted to chime in to see if there were any other "new" options out there. they just want to dammm much for them ... but then again you pay for speed

I didn't say anything had to be remachined, just machined well.
Long as you have enough quench I would go with a thin gasket to maintain quench and improve off boost response.
Comments like "plenty of power" in this context make me want to ask "compared to what".
I have met and on occassion been the guy that was happy till he learned better.
