Msd btm?

I am currently building my hot side then pretty much ready to start putting the car back together, I dont have anything for an ignition yet just the stock opti which I ran all last year at 415RWHP running 11.7s and seeing 7100rpm alot and no issues.

Now what should I use to retard timing? I was thinking just get the MSD and retard 1-2* per #of boost. Will it work on a stock opti setup?

Would I just leave my PCM timing and let the MSD do the rest?

The part number is MSB-6462.

If it were me I would buy a 6AL call it a day. Then tune the car for boost using tunercat or LT1 edit.

BUT, if you are going to run a MSD BTM I have one im no longer using if you are interested in it. PM me for info.

Both work perfect with the Opti.

Im with him. 6AL and call it good. If you have built the engine right, really no need for it. I have the Crane version of the MSD BTM, and I never have it set to pull any timing.

It's also nice for if you get bad gas or want top pull some timing on a hot day.

ahh okay....6als are cheap to find....I may try the summit one. Has anyone ever tried the summit box with the 2 bar map?

I have tuner cat now I just have to figure out how to pull timing properly with the map tables.

I've been using the MSD BTM for 2 years now. If you are using a stock lt1 computer then there is no way to accurately tune timing for boost unless you use a 2 bar tune, or pull timing with a boost sensitive box. I'm a big supporter of the MSD 6BTM especially if you have a turbo. I use basically stock timing tables and pull timing with the BTM. I pull 1 degree for every 1 pound of boost. I'm pretty good at tuning with tunercat and have experimented with different solutions and this is what worked best and gave me the best performance and reliability for my car.
