MPT70 on a LT1?

Does anyone know if a Master Power T70 would be a decent size turbo for a stock heads and cammed motor with forged pistons? I want to go with a T76 but it appears I can get this turbo for around $600 where *** the T76 is about $1100. I am wanting to run at most of 15lbs of boost through maybe some ported heads at a later date. Thanks, Brad

I'll let you know in a couple of weeks

My mpt70 just came in the mail.

Its decent but not huge.

Most things show @ 600 rwhp max and upper teen range on boost depending on heads/cam.

Depends on the kit, but a T70 on stockish cubes (350-355ci) should make for a fun street car. The T76 will let you make more power at less boost though and is worth the extra money if you go with a single IMO.

Why does the T76 makes more power? Excuse me for sounding stupid but I am kinda new to turbo related facts.

Larger compressor wheel (70mm versus 76mm) so the turbo will push more air and based on the cubic inch, the T76 will be more efficient than aT70... which means cooler charge right out of the turbo because more efficient turbo doesnt have to work as hard.

Dont waste your money on Masterpower. Mine lasted 1200 miles before the bearings went on them.

When you had them for sale the bearings went on one of them I thought?

What about the vette guy who got 10 miles out of his new 88?

I honestly don't trust anything right now. I'll take my chances with the $500 MP and if that doesn't last Ill get a ebay/china gt45.

Granted more people report failures than success.... I don't see many people posting they got 1-10-20+k miles out of a turbo, but plenty not lasting.

One un-named vendor on ls1tech used to post up and try to push master power turbos left and right, now that he no longer sales them he bashes the hell out of them. He may have reasons for not selling them, maybe he lost supply, but either way he sure didn't mind when he was getting paid for them.

Yeah only one was un-useable from contact, but both had shaft play.

Good luck with them, but you cant beat turbonetics warranty...1 year, no questions asked.
