Any input very much appreciated.

You can either go with a mechanical or electric. I prefer the electric. It's much easier to read while your trying to watch the road, tach, shift at red line and see how much boost your making. A quick glance will tell you instead of trying to focus in on the little lines. Either one will work though

How about the digital boost guage on your site. Heard any good results with it. Looks like a nice piece.

The original post wants info regarding accuracy of the gauge reading. I has little to offer, other than the following:

Autometer gauge looks nice, but if it is accuracy you are after......

We've installed quite a few of these and I run one in my 13 second Suburban (yes... a Suburban ). It works very well.
