Measuring Impeller speed
Measuring Impeller speed
Guys trying to figure my impeller speed of my D1SC, on my 383.
I have yet to get my Blower pulley and my Crank pulley but i was told I needed to get a 7.625 Crank pulley and a 3.4 Blower pulley, I will be running a SDCE tensioner setup, hoping to see around 12-15lbs.
This is what I came up with
Crank / blower ratio = 7.625/3.4 = 2.242647
Drive ratio * internal ratio = 2.242647 * 4.10 = 9.19
Max rpm * total stepup ratio - 6200 * 9.19 = 57008Impeller Speed
Max impeller Speed for the D1 is 62000
Here are the Blower specs from Procharger
http://www.procharger.com/models.shtml
My Question is Should I try to spin around 60000 from the blower or should I just keep it around 57000. How much am i leaving on the table??
Does anyone know the pulley size RANGES for both Blower pulley's and Crank pulley's I was told 3.4 is the lowest we can get for a Blower Pulley???

Re: Measuring Impeller speed
I havent seen any bigger crank pulley then the 7.65".
You definitly need a 12 rib setup If you should have 3.4"
or a smaller s/c pulley...
Any mechanic workshop should be able to make a custom pulley if you let them messure the one you have.
My guess is that the step from 57000 -> 62000 rpm will gain you 25 hp.

Re: Measuring Impeller speed
Thanks Lisa for the reply, I think I will just stay wit the 7.625 Crank and 3.4 Blower pulley's. I have ordered my SDCE custom tensioner setup and I decided to use the 8rib setup (was recommended) b/c belts can be found anywhere and I should not have any problems with this tensioner.
I think 57000 or so blower RPM should be enough without maxing out the the blower. Hell I will probably put on a 4.25 Blower pulley and run 45606 Blower RPM and still make probably over 500RWHP, then when it is time to play slap on the 3.4 pulley, turns into a different animal in 10 minutes.
Lisa what balancer are running for the stock balancer??
