MAF conversion?

i have a 93 bird that im looking into turbocharging. that being said the 93 is a speed density car. i had thumbed through some posts about guys running boost on their maf cars in speed density mode with a stock ecm.... a few questions i have are what would be involved in converting my sd over to a maf system? what parts would be needed? or...would it be possible to run boost on my speed density system with some changes? what would be involved? i know the obvious answer is to go stand alone but i dont want to buy an entire system if i dont have to. im looking to put 5-600 to the tire on 2 bar.

Re: MAF conversion?

At first, i was dead set on ditching the maf because of the possibility of maxing out the maf and most SD tunes usually make a little more HP. I was dead set on converting to speed density, bought a 2bar map and spent hours playing with different tunes and setups. I couldn't get the car running halfway decent, so i went back to maf. I've discovered modifying the tune is really simple with the maf, and drivability is not sacrificed whatsoever. I would say try seeing if you can get the car dialed in with the SD first, and if that fails, convert over to maf for easy tuning.
