M6 conversion or a STOUT A4?

Guys,
My second Auto took a dump on Friday. It had about 41K miles on it with about 13K miles on a Blown 383. The old 4L60E trans was made to handle 500 "FLYWHEEL" HP Max.

Here is my dilemma......I am looking into either getting a M6 conversion OR going with a Rossler 4L60E. For those that may not know, Rossler makes some of the strongest 4L60E around, if not the strongest. He has one in the Lingefelter Twin Turbo Vette Running 8.90s in the quarter mile with no issues so far and has many guys running them in thier daily drivers with 500++ "REAR" Wheel HP & TQ. I called Cartek and they can get and install the Rossler Transmision for me and flush out my trans cooler and send my Vig converter back to have it clean & restalled if needed for a total of 3700.00 bucks.

I was also thinking about doing a M6 conversion but I cant seem to find a complete or decent M6 anywhere and the install prices are up there with install and finding all the parts I am looking at about the same price or more than the Rossler Transmission. I think the M6 conversion would be more fun on the street and would give better gas mileage but it would also require a 12 bolt rear pretty soon and that is money I really dont have anytime soon to throw at the car.

What would you do if you were in my shoes? Go with the More stout A4 or the M6. I do drive my car about 600 Miles weekly and it will only see the track about 3-4 times a year, so please keep that in mind. Also Does anyone know of someone who is selling a T56 conversion kit or knows of a shop that can do the T56 install that wont charge a freakin arm and a leg in NJ. Please keep in mind also that my car should be making ~530 FLYWHEEL this year after I get it dyno tuned with my new Y-pipe, if its not there already.

Any help would be appreciated,
Claude

Wow......your going through the same thing I am. Im in the process of having my second tranny rebuilt and to tell you the truth Im tired of it. There are a couple of places that I know that sell t56 conversion kits for about 1500. Im going to go this rought . I too am on the stock rear end and I'll cross that road when I get to it. but for now I think Im goona stick a 6-speed in my car. Besides I like shifting anyways, you can find 6-speed conversion kits on ebay right now. The conversion isnt hard just time consuming is all. If your good you can get it done in one long day.

If your car is an everyday car I would recommend going with an M6. I would go with an auto if you wanted to net the best ET possible (more drag racing). Just remember the added expenses with M6 such as clutch and shifter. As far as fun factor the M6 wins hands down.

Guys, I was just recommend this place by 2 board Members.

http://www.dynotechperformance.com/

They can make my 4l60E handle upto 650 Flywheel HP for about 1400.00 bucks less (INSTALLED) than having the Rossler Trans shipped up to NJ.

They also have a Vette running 9.70s in the 1/4 mile with the 4l60E

I think I will go with them since they are cheaper, offer a 12 month/12K warranty and it would be less down time too.

Anyone ever heard anything good or bad about this place?

Thx,
Claude

At 3700 bucks you would be much better off geting a th400+OD vender, and this is what I will be doing. Venders are hard to find used and mega $$$$ new, but it sure would be a nice combo. I would find a decent shop and rebuild the 4l60 if cash is a problem. In city traffic and shifting gets old. I went nuts driving my brothers stang in Miami traffics jams.

I would love to have a m6 up here in the hills.

Bill

Bill,
I did find a local shop www.dynotechperformance.com that will make me a 4l60E to handle 650 Flywheel for Under 2300 installed. I think I will go with them.

Thanks,
Claude

I dunno about the T56. Mine is grinding @ 45k miles. In my opinion, it can't take the abuse of hard shifting.

I hear that tranny temp is a lot of what kills trannies. Driving a car down the freeway is totally different than driving it down the strip.

Guys,
I just got my Car back from Dynotech yesterday. It seems to work well so far but did not really get too many chances to beat up on the car because of the weather and road conditions. Dynotech does uses some good components and Eric at Dynotech claims it has lasted in a few 4th Gen F-body 650 Flywheel HP for a few years with no problems so far. I will keep you guys updated on how it does for me.

Here are some of the compenents in my trans.
All new clutches, bushings, paper and rubber seals. Includes Transgo shift kit, 13-vane blueprinted pump assembly, Alto wide-band, Alto Red Devil 3-4 clutches, Modified lock-up controls. All new electronics. Teflon pump/drum and tail housing bushings. billet 4th gear apply servo. Beast Heavy Duty sun shell assembly & 3-4 servo release check-valve.

I did have my vig converter which stalled about 3000-3200 before the rebuild sent back to Vig to have it restalled and cleaned. I went 400rpms lower cuz I drive the car everyday and its was a lil to much in traffic for everyday driving, 600 Miles weekly for me.

He does give a 12Month. 12K mile warranty too and the trans was much cheaper than if I were to go with Rossler.

I guess time will tell how well and long it last but I will keep everyone posted.

Thanks,
Claude

How come no one talks about 200r4's? The Turbo Buick guys use these things for 9 sec passes. And the steeper first gear helps traction. I love my T56 and its a keeper.
