Lt1 STS owners a couple of questions for buddy.
Buddy has lt1 STS .He accidentally played with his greddy boost controller and blew stock engine up. No big deal he now has rebuilt motor with forged turbo pistons compression down about a point.
Questions .I have another buddy with tunercat to help us tune it and I have a scanmaster for incar checking of things.
Can he run 5 psi on stock fuel pump and stock injectors? Does he need to retard stock timing to run 5 psi or so? Some body at STS said 15 degrees retard which frankly sounds retared to me. I can maybe see a couple degrees.
With his lower compression would 8 be ok and for 8 would we need to step up to those bigger injectors and pump and meth or intercooler . He don't have the meth injection or intercooler currently.
I would assume for 10 or more he would need at least some 42s,pump and the meth and maybe intercooler both. What is max useable boost out of the stock turbo that comes with the sts system?
Any guidance from those of you running this system is appreciated we seem to be getting different answers on some of this even from sts directly.
I would as least think we have some safety margin now with good forged pistons in there.

Re: Lt1 STS owners a couple of questions for buddy.
C'mon guys how about some help here. We took car for drive tonite at 5 psi. I had my scanmaster in the car. It hit around 13 or so max I think when I momentarily went full throttle. I wasn't feeling too good about this amount of knock retard so backed off right away .Also it looked like we were leaning out. I adviced an inline or intank pump, a set of 42s and some proper tuning. Buddy with lt1 who had procharger also advised msd with boost retard.
So would really like a bit more info to give the guy.

Tell your buddy to check out the Racetronix fuel pump kit for our cars. It should be quite capable of supplying enough fuel. Injectors... 42's or a set of 50's would be good. The 50's would give him room to grow if he wants to. A 6BTM box or Digital 6 would be a very good idea as well.
I wouldn't really want to tune with a scanmaster, it's not really geared for long term data acquisition. Check out Datamaster (www.ttspowersystems.com). I would also recommend having the car professionally tuned on a dyno with a WB O2. Turbos are a little more tricky to tune than a supercharger, especially on a one bar map sensor.
