LT1 Fuel System Question
LT1 Fuel System Question
My currently being built setup is to be a 355, TFS Heads fully ported, and a D-1SC with (hopefully) 16-18# of boost. My question is this:
I currently have a Racetronix 255 pump in the tank. I've got serious doubts that it's going to hold up and give the fuel the motor will need, so I'm trying to plan out my fuel system.
We're hoping to see in the area of 750-850 on an engine dyno. Once in the car, do you think I'm going to need larger aftermarket fuel lines???
Second, and most important, the fuel pump itself. I've heard that someone makes a drop in dual in tank pump setup, but who, and how much?? I figure that is probably going to be my best course of action to keep the motor happy with fuel.

Re: LT1 Fuel System Question
We've pushed dual walbros with the stock fuel line and filter to well over 900rwhp.
You can either piece the system together yourself, or I believe Racetronix sells a complete dual intank setup.

I am using a Racetronix dump pump set up with the STOCK fuel lines. The Racetronix kit uses a Hobbs switch to active the 2nd pump. I cut that off of the harness and wired in a MSD RPM activated switch to turn on the 2nd fuel pump at the desired RPM.
I suggest that you NOT used a boost-a-pump. It increases the voltage to the fuel pump so that it spins faster, but it will ultimately shorten the life of the pump. I would also suggest that you NOT use any type of in-line pump. In your application, it will be a restriction as your set up will require more fuel than an in-tank pump and in-line pump combo.
Disclaimer...
I'm sure that people have used a boost-a-pump or an in-tank pump and in-line pump combo... it's just something that I wouldn't suggest as there are better ways to configure a fuel pump set up.

Re: LT1 Fuel System Question
Using an in-line booster is NOT what I am planning. Optimally, I'd like to just go with a drop in dual in-tank assembly. Anyone know for sure if Racetronix makes the kit or if someone else does, and how much it costs??
Thanks for the info guys, that helps a lot.

Re: LT1 Fuel System Question
what you need to do is get in touch with lonnie as mentioned earlier!!! he is a great guy to deal and is very smart. he got me set up with the DP walbros as i was running out of fuel with a single intank with a MSD booster. the pump set up is so simple to install. it comes with the hobbs switch and all the wiring is PnP.. he will take care of you!
Re: LT1 Fuel System Question
I have a similar set-up. 383 w/ D1 ATI. Previously had a single Walbro w/ a KB BAP with the stock sending unit piping. It starved fuel. Then I added a second pump and custom made the sending unit and plumbing (3/8 Aeroquip dual socketless tube with bulk head fittings.) Both pumps run continuously with pump #2 having a switch to turn on/ off from the drivers seat. I never considered racetronics. All of the pumps and plumbing - painless kits were purchased from Summit. It helps to have a MIG welder and drill press. I went thru the floor pan for tank access. Very easy and accessable.
Re: LT1 Fuel System Question
Hmm... I guess the only way I will find out if my racetronixs single pump, harness, MSD BAP, and 83lbs injectors will be enough is to run it. I guess I can always just and another pump for under $150. Anyone have a wiring diagram for either the hobbs switch or MSD RPM activated switch?
