LT1 D1SC inlet tube
LT1 D1SC inlet tube
I'm going to get my 96 LT-1 D1SC dynoed soon and I would like to change the inlet to tube on my car. The one from procharger is like dryer hose and looks restrictive. Is there something better out there? Thanks Lee
Re: LT1 D1SC inlet tube
Ive been doing some research and searching myself for a better inlet hose beside the orange junk it came with. The problem is the charger inlet is so close to the rack and pinion. I bought a nice prefabbed 90 degree elbow but it hits the nuckle on the rack. 10secz who is a member on here had a sweet one built for him thats the nicest thing ive seen! check his sig and go to his site, there is a picture of it. The K&n filter that came on mine is a joke. Im putting a big 9" cone filter on it and am going to simplify the intake system.

I have it on my car, however I don't have any pics. It fits much better than the old dryer hose, and flows the same.
Re: LT1 D1SC inlet tube
STS makes a high rubber elbow for the LT1. I am not sure if its better than the Procharger one for sure but is worth looking into because the Procharger one sucks. Oh yeah, the STS elbow is blue.

I''m in the process of doing this:

Unfortunately, my current K&N has no ground clearance so instead of buying a new one for $50, Im going to have a hard tube made to replace everything between the filter and the cobra head. I wanted to move the BPV and MAF but am having second thoughts cause of the tuning. My only real problem is I couldnt find a reducer to go between the blower and the cobra head. All I need is a 3.75"-3.5" rubber reducer but I had to reuse a short section of the dreaded orange dryer hose. Its not enough to even collapse but I still cant get away from it. BTW, a local here in Vegas, ramair96ws6 installed the newer ATI inlet and it cost him 50+hp over no inlet tubing.....

Re: LT1 D1SC inlet tube
I am about done with my D1SC on my 383 and I was wondering why not just attach a Small Filter to the end of the inlet. That way there would be enough room still and the air would be filtered, and there would be little to no restriction. What do you guys think?
Re: LT1 D1SC inlet tube
I bought ATI's new plastic intake tube for $120 and I custom made the rest of the intake tubing. I still had to clearance the engine cradle with a dremel but overall its a good fit. I had a hole in my dryer hose and it was all deformed from being sucked closed. I had a spewing sound at 8psi that is now gone.
