60': 2.201
330: 5.359
1/8: 7.817
mph: 100.74
1000: 9.894
1/4: 11.621
mph: 131.05

what do you guys think..pretty good, or could be better? Do you think i can hit 10.xx @ ? with 18psi? discuss...btw the HP numbers in my sig are for the old setup, but i am guessing i am still right around 650

3740? How much do you weigh? Mine weighed 3540 with me in it.

2.2 60' with 315 nittos sucks ***, no matter how bad the track prep was. Were you heating them up? What was the tire pressure?

The weight is pretty normal. Remember, you don't have the extra weight of a 12 bolt, blower, intercooler, and all the extra plumbing that goes with them, etc.

I've heard that a 12-bolt adds about 50 pounds over a 10-bolt. I figure a blower+intercooler+pipes might add another 50-75, and his brakes and wheels probably add a few more, which means that this guy probably outweighs me by 50-75 lbs, which is what I was looking to confirm.

I'm only 140lbs, so he wouldn't need to be huge to outweigh me by that much -- I'm just checking.

With a 131mph trap, you should be able to hit 10's now with a decient 60ft. If you could pull 1.80's or less, you should see a 10 without having to up the boost.

I agree with Ken. You said first and second were completely useless. Try short shifting first next time and see if your time improves. Helped my car by .5 second consistently.

Try to almost bog the motor when you let the clutch out. Just ease into the throttle after that to avoid wheel spin.

With Nitto drag radials? Why would you launch like that? Do a nice smokey burnout to heat them up, and lay the power on them right off the line. You'll need to experiment a little to find the sweet spot, but I've seen a 4000-lb car pull a 1.7 60' on 275mm Nitto 555Rs with this technique.

you dont do a nice smokey burnout on a DRs....that is a misconception....all they need is a little scrub.

Ken is right - 131 mph is good for low 10's with a great launch, and 10.7 with an average launch. I was running 10.40's at 133 with 550 rwhp (A3) and 1.5 60' times. I've seen other cars break into the 9's at 133 mph.

when you spin like that, you will always trap higher than normal though. with a solid launch and good hook, youd prob trap around 128

That hasn't been my experience. When I hook, my mph goes up.

My father in law has a 1970 Buick GSX (not real, a clone) with a 455. It weighs just under 4000 pounds, and it has a set of 275/60/15 Nitto 555Rs in the back. He just got the tires this summer, and he and I went to the track several times to get things figured out.

We found that he got the best results (1.7 60' is his best so far, and we think he can still do better) by heating them way up before his first run of the day (i.e. burnout for ~10 seconds) and by maintaining that heat before each successive run (3-4 seconds if he's hot-lapping, more if he has to wait in line).

Call it a misconception if you want, but I'm sharing my experience. Maybe it's not true of all drag radials, but Nitto 555Rs like it hot.
