Re: JLTurbo Sts Dyno

why does it go so rich between 3200 and 4800rpm?

i actually like what ive seen from your kits. when is someone going to start making CARB legal turbo kits for us california guys?

also, are you guys doing anything as far as a charge cooling goes?

Re: JLTurbo Sts Dyno

Yes, it was the meth/water kicking in on top. For now that is doing all the cooling (86 degrees at 14psi at the end of the run) The trick is to have a good tune for 5psi, and when the high boost is on tune that out with the sequential system and some base tweaking. Just didn't have the time on the dyno, but will clean it up some with street tuning. BTW my innovative was showing slightly leaner reading than the dyno WB while running both at the same time??? Dyno shows 10 and we saw 11.0 on the innovative, that has me wandering. Have to actully log with the innovative to see for sure.

Those are great results! I looked at the compressor map for the T04E-60 and it appears to be too small for this setup. I ran some numbers on my calculator (355 CID, 6K RPM, 14 PSI, 80 degrees ambient, 29.00 barometer) and this setup needs about 51.7 LB/MIN with a pressure ratio of 1.98. On the above compressor map, this point is not even on the map. According to these calcs, a T76 would be the ideal turbo size to run. Have you tried this setup with a larger turbo?

Re: JLTurbo Sts Dyno

they have not tried a bigger turbo yet... but it will be done soon

thats the base kit's turbo from STS... i was thinking max would be 11psi from that turbo but we kept turning the boost, and the car loved it we went upto 14psi with it....

Hey Luke,
Good going. Now Ihave a base line for when I have the 383 done. I am going completly forged with 9.5:1 and some head work. I have got 15K on current configuration and it still runs great wir air conditioning . If I can get 500rwhp after I have the new enging built, I will be satified. Good luck my SS brother

Re: JLTurbo Sts Dyno

Your numbers look great but aren't you injectors way small for that power level or does the meth let you run smaller injectors.I would have thought you would need 50 or bigger.

Re: JLTurbo Sts Dyno

the meth compansates for all the extra fuel needed... you can actually see in the AF chart that he was running too rich once meth kicked in...

Re: JLTurbo Sts Dyno

Yes, the injector duty cycle is showing in to the 80-90% range, but the methanol is adding the additional fueling. I am also maxing the MAF out at about 4000rpms, so there has been and will be more tuning since the dyno. Probably going to go with a 42 next and finer methanol tuning.

BTW i trapped 125mph at the track the other night.
