Intercooling

I have a very simple question, is it worth intercooling a centrifical supercharger at say 8 lbs of boost or less on a STREET car? Or would it be more benifical to use alky injection. Curious about your thoughts and why. Thanks Joe

I see it as your pref. Water injection has proved itself to be quite effective, in some cases people are seeing near ambient. To some people (me) intercoolers are just too damn cool to pass up on, but that can be a lot more piping (weight and space).

You will see a pressure drop across an intercooler. With 8# and a goog cooler that may only be .5 - 1#.

The idea with either is to get intake temps down to run more timing.... Either will do it. Injection is probably the easiest. Cheap ebay intercooler the cheapest, and a good intercooler being the most expensive option.

I would always run an IC on a street car....because once its on its always going to cool the boost... unlike alky that you have to keep full...or ateast keep an eye on the level

Part of my feeling too, some people will argue its a tiny point because it lasts a while but I am moving from spray to boost,, so I don't want to fill anything but the gas tank.

I'd say intercool. I like the previous 2 posts points. Scanning the car just cruising around since i went the intercooled route has produced a drop in intake temps. Even when i hammer on it, my temps never really get over ambient where as before, even with the meth injection, i was always well above ambient at WOT. This is even on low boost (around 8psi). Now i'm running both the meth and FMIC. I'm happy with the FMIC. It was an ebay special, but the quality seems good and it cools very well. There is some garbage on ebay, so if you happen to go that route, be cautious.
