Intercooler required.......or better to have?
I've been looking around for a supercharger for my car and i found a system at thunderracing.com Its a Procharger 1993-1997 LT1 F-Body System - HO Kit with P-1SC - Features: 4.5-15 psi of Boost, N/A% HP Gain, Non-Intercooled
I dont want to run more then 5 psi of boost in fear that i'll blow my tranny and rear end, so this sounds like a good kit for me plus its not that expensive. So i was wondering if it was required to intercool a supercharger or is it just better to?

5-6 psi you don't really need an intercooler. As the pressure goes up, it gets hotter, so you will need one to cool the intake air back down, or add an alcohol injection system.

As mentioned, it won't be required at 5 psi. But IMO, any serious boosted setup will be intercooled. It's almost not worth the money for a super/turbocharger to run just 5 psi of boost.

Always better to be intercooled IMO. Whatever boost level you're running at, you're going to generate heat. Just like a naturally aspirated motor, you want to run cooler to get the more dense air. Even more imporantly, taking that heat out allows you to much more safely run full timing and get the most power out of it.
As far as it not being worth running 5 PSI of boost, that's really a matter of perspective. It's a bolt-on modification that someone with relatively limited wrenching experience can do themselves. Now you have a forced induction system that can grow with the needs of the motor. When it's time for a rebuild, you're in a great position to lower the compression, put in forged pistons, and get a lot of power out of it. In the meantime, running a lower boost level will help ensure that you don't need that rebuild all too soon.
