Injector Question

I am getting a vortech S trim and want to know what injectors I should go with. My mods are below and I am probably around 380-390rwhp N/A. I have stock injectors right now. How much more hp is the 6psi gonna give me (cam might bleed off some boost)?

I would say you should be good running some SVO 24lb injectors.

Seriously, I know 24's wont cut it. What do some of you guys with ~450rwhp run for injectors?

oops my bad I thought you were saying you would be 390 rwhp after the blower install. Do you plan on running an FMU? You may want to look at getting some 36lb injectors. 42lber would be great if you plan on removing the FMU and adding a little more boost.

Well, I am probably at 380rwhp right now and plan on being @ 450rwhp with 6psi. The Vortech kit doesnt come with FMU, so I will not be using it. It comes with MSD boost retard. Will this boost retard work with my Accel 300+ or do I need to buy an MSD ignition system for it? Any advice on things I will need would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure if you can tie the MSD Boost Retard box and the Accel box together. I would recommend getting a Scanmaster to monitor for knock. Also you are going to have to run colder spark plugs (NGK TR6's or Autolite 104's).

I have NGK TR6's right now. It comes with the 255lph Walbro intank fuel pump. I am getting everything but the tap for the oil pan. Original owner is keeping it. Hopefully I should be able to buy that piece from Vortech. I am stoked. I am picking the charger up tonight. I plan on picking up a boost gauge as well. Which MSD ignition system should I get if I get rid of my Accel 300+? Sorry for all these obscure questions.

I would go ahead and get some 50# injectors. I just bought some 42#'s and they are about maxed out at 450 rwhp. I wish I would have gotten the 50#'s to begin with .

I agree, if you are heading for 450 to 500rwhp without the FMU, I would suggest at least a 42 or 50#/hr injectors. Most people have good success with the 42 and some found the 50 to be sluggish. You want to get some thing like these so you don't have to buy too many sets of injectors. And definitely get it tune. When you pass 500 then you will need to go to www.acceleronics.com

I would also get a fuel pressure guage as well as your boost guage. This will allow you to keep an eye on your fuel setup.

Are you buying the head unit used and are you sure it is in good working condition. You may want to open it up and check it out.

good luck

Thanks for the advice. I have an elect. fuel pressure gauge and an aeromotive AFPR. I am currently running 54-55psi @ WOT with stock injectors (trying to support 380+rwhp).

I am picking up the S/C tonight. It has only 6k miles on since it was bought. It has been sitting for 1 1/2 years, but I assume its in fine working order (according to the owner).

Whatever you do I would suggest staying away from MSD 50lb injectors. I have heard of them locking up at higher fuel pressure.

I hope that one of the things included in your ported heads is larger combustion chambers, because if you're running that cam with stock compression and boost I think your cylinder pressure is gonna be kinda high.

I forget all the different cam specs, but the XE 230/236 on a 114 is a blower cam, right?
