IC: Efficiency Vs Flow
IC: Efficiency Vs Flow
are efficiency and flow CFM a tradeoff in an IC ?
im just doing some research on what kind of IC i want to put on my car .. and i've noticed that the vertical flow ICs flow a LOT more ie: this one
on the other hand, the biggest horizontal flow ones flow less in comparison, or have to be a LOT bigger to flow approx the same ie: this one
i was actually looking to buy the first one... 2200 CFM sounds like a lot ... but im wondering if all that free flow would compromise the efficiency

Cmotorsports is ordering my custom front mount Spearco for me. They recomended an inlet on one the top of one side and the exit on the opposite bottom side. This will maximize the number of vertical tubes the air will cross and ultimately get you as close to ambient T's as possible.
In case I messed up the explanation, I'd call and talk to Seth @ Combination!

The intercooler with the short run ie vert one is less distance to travel thing about a 4" x36" tube thats only 8 in long your gonna flow a load of air where a 4x8" tube that is 36" long is gonna hamper your flow more.
Just as a side note that intercooler on ebay has way heavy end tanks like .25" thick cast end tanks. The one I used for a guy I had to majorly rework it so it wasn't a huge pain.
