Well, I don't want to dish out the $1700+ for a F.A.S.T unit just yet. If I run speed density mode with 72lb injectors (with low-impedance drivers) can I produce somewhere around 650rwhp? I have access to a dyno and a tuner. Just want to know if it is possible first. I knw speed density is harder to tune but my tuner tunes most of his cars in this mode and hates MAF sensors.

BTW, I'm twin turbo if that matters

The way you've phrased the question, I'm a little confused. There's nothing about speed-density that will limit your power output. In fact, by eliminating the intake restriction of the MAF you will have more hp potential. WOT tuning will be easy. But the problem will be tuning for part throttle/light load operation. You will be essentially starting from a nowhere, just as if you went with an aftermarket ECU. And don't let anyone fool you about this. It is NOT easy (for either the factory PCM or an aftermarket ECU). It's no problem getting it to start and run, but if you think it's gonna drive like a factory calibration with a lot of effort, it just isn't so.

A lot of the work at the shop I'm associated with consists of tuning cars where the owner has installed an aftermarket ECU. Many barely run, some won't even start. Your call will at least start and run in speed-density mode, but it will likely run poorly. Be prepared for it, but it has been done sucessfully and with enough effort it is certainly possible.

I am aware that speed density has nothing to do with my hp limitations. In fact the MAF would be my limitation if I were to run with it. My tuner was telling he has never been able to tune a car with a MAF to over 700rwhp. Something about the way they were built makes them not able to flow that amount of air. It really doesn't matter how much time it takes. My tuner has been doing this for years and is tuning mine for free He's tuned a few 1000+rwhp supras and some 700+whp civics so he knows what he's doing

Well, mine makes over 700rwhp with the stock MAF. But it IS a restriction. I gain 3-4psi of boost with all of the intake piping (including the MAF) disconnected. I am moving the MAF to the "pressure" side this year.
