how much can it handle

ok here is the deal i am 17 and really dont know quite that much about cars seeing as i just got into it. I have a 94 3.4 liter v6 camaro with 117,000 miles on it and my cousin who has a 1982 datsun with the ls1 conversion and headers and supercharger and all the other goodies. Well he is going to help me get and put on a supercharger. He said we are able to push 7 psi with my car as it is with headers and exhaust. I wanted to know if my car could handle even that much bc i dont want to blow my engine. I want to race with a safe number of psi? any advice ?

Safest amount would be 0. But if that won't cut it, just make sure you install all the extra stuff that's needed like the BTM box, additional fuel pump, bigger injectors, and a water/methanol injection system. It'll cost a little more, but it's cheaper than doing a rebuild.

JMO, but you might consider spending the money swapping in an LT1... I know two guys here who've done it and it's not that bad... While you've got the engine out, you might have the dough to freshen it with forged pistons. Then when you were done, the options would be greatly enhanced. There's a pretty good chance that the blower will send you down this road anyway, so why not just bite the bullet... Plus, you've got a z with 6 cylinder insurance rates. Easy cars to turn...

If you find it, let us know.

Seriously though, are you looking for a stock LT1 or one that's already built? Most of the vendors sell motors that they've already built for abuse. If you want a stock LT1, check the paper, junk yards, the for sale section of this board.
