how much boost from this setup?
i was running ati p1sc 8# setup on stock motor. now the same setup is on 383 w/afr 220 heads and .594 lift cam. what boost should i expect now and what can i do with this unit to increase boost. diff. pulleys avail.?
thanks
thanks
Those are some pretty big heads you are going to be running. There are a few ways to get more boost out of your head unit. You can either change your blower pulley ( which I suggest) or your crank pulley. Since you are going to be running the blower on a 383 I would recommend upgrading your P1SC to a D1SC.
I don't see any problems because almost any motor can be tuned right if the right person tunes it.
With those heads, your boost probably dropped to 6 or less, and you won't feel it on that motor until higher rpm's. If you want to stick to that setup then change pullies and run more boost. The D1SC would make the same boost but at lower rpm's which is ideal if you drag race. Procharger suggests running 15psi or less on a P-1SC, although you can run more, thats what they suggest. A D1SC can handle 15+ psi but how much do you want to run?? Its really up to you. What are your goals with this motor??
