How many psi?
My supercharger in working great and i get 5 psi at max boost. The unit calls it a 6.5 psi kit. Is there anything i need to do to make the extra 1.5 or is this typical? I also see they make a smaller pulley for more boost. How much can a stock 100k motor take?
probably wouldnt run too much more without fear of damage.. i ran a very small pully on my powerdyne it boosted well on a stock motor and maxed out around 8-9.5 psi as long as the belt didnt slip and i made sure it didnt get that high unless i had race gas in it... but it made it about 10k miles and had 190k miles on it...about 1/3rd of that time was as low boost
I wouldnt worry about it.. as long as its making power.. who cares. The harder you spin the blower, the tougher it is on parts.
My hypertech can raise the shift rpm's for my automatic. Will this be a good thing to do so the boost will be there higher for longer or just put more stress on the motor? I would hate to do something that could blow it up without being sure.
A centrifugal supercharger will generally shift the rpm range up, by as much as 500 rpm. With that requires higher shift points to fully take advantage of the power. However, with more rpm and more boost, comes a higher chance of blowing it up - especially if you're on the stock pistons.
