how to hook up Racegate

i'm just curious how to hook up the "vacuum/boost" lines on a Turbonetics Racegate. Also, what are the correct fittings to hook to the Racegate?

Thanks,
Jesse

The holes are 1/8" NPT thread. I used some compression fittings for 1/4"copper line and ran it right to the turbo where there was also a hole with 1/8" NPT thread. I wouldn't reccomend copper line though, I will be changing to steel. Copper will fracture with vibration, but mine took 3 years to do so. Hook the boost signal from the turbo to the underside of the diaphram (the non-spring side) If you have ever taken off the top of the Racegate you would see where the spring is and the diaphram. Leave the spring side open to atmosphere, unless your hooking up a Variable boost controller utilizing a small pressure regulator.

How did you get a Hans Feustel engine in Nebraska? The only 358cid LT1 he ever did that I know of was in Joel Hester's old car, and I would highly recommend you not give the current owner any money up front. If it's the same person (Keith) then he's well known for sitting on other peoples money for a long time.

Btw: I used just regular old vacuum line with some heavy duty zip ties, works fine for me. And since I am using boost to hold the gate closed if there ever is a problem with the line melting or blowing off I'll be stuck with 7psi instead of wherever my boost controller is set at (have seen 21psi before).

Brandy,
It is actually Joel's motor. And yes, I had an absolute TERRIBLE experience getting my motor from Keith Moore. He's basically a thief that didn't get prosecuted. I sent the check on Jan. 21 and he stopped answering phone calls and didn't respond to emails.

add me to your messenger list if you use MSN. I'd like to discuss a few more things with you if you have time. jesselukeboyer@hotmail.com

I don't know about you guys, but if someone would screw me out of that much money, I'd take an immediate road trip to where ever the check went and start getting some answers, if not the motor. I'd have a little persuasion with me too!

Sorry I didn't get to you sooner, you are definately not his only victim. I have been warning everyone I could for the past 2 years but very few people listen. I don't use MSN messenger btw.

I did start an AMS bashing forum on my website btw, feel free to use it I'm guessing you did finally get your engine?

I seriously appreciate the support fellas. Certainly makes me feel good that I have support. And yes, search this site for "AMS is stealing $3100 from me" or something like that. Search LS1tech.com as well, but they shut that thread down VERY fast as AMS is a sponsor there.

And yes, I contemplated a trip to Texas but as I am finishing my last semesters at college, I had to consentrate on school. Also, the ONLY reason I actually got my motor (after nearly 2 months of waiting!!) was because of the thread I started on this site. AMS didn't return my calls or emails for weeks and I was at wits end. They saw that thread and my motor arrived 5 days later... Thank you CZ28.

Brandy: yes, I got the motor and I'm about to fire it tonight. Wish me luck
