How Do I Know if my bypass valve is working?

I installed my bypass valve, and just want to make sure it's working, how do I do this?

with the car idling and the vacuum line hooked up to it, it should be open. with the vacuum line off of it, it should be closed.

If you have it routed back to the intake, just pull the hose off. Turn the car on and feel for air. You should also be able to hear it go "PSHHH" when you lift after getting in the boost.

Also, if you disconnect the vaccum line from the by pass valve and pop the throttle, you will hear a pulsing, wheezing sound coming rom the blower.

This is because the valve is closed and the surge is coming back through the blower.

Look under the car and watch the valve. Get someone to start the car. The valve should change state. Then, get them to turn off the car. The valve should transition again.

thanks for all the tips, they helped a lot. My next question is this. My car is a 1997 Camaro SS with the LT1 and six speed. My set up is a powerdyne 6.5 kit with the fmu, colder plugs, msd ignition, and a 200 lph in-line fuel pump. With my set-up, what are your guesses as to my performance and hp numbers. My previous best was a 13.56 at 101mph, but more common times were 13.80's. Just your opinion, what am I looking at now?

I'd shoot myself if I spent all that money and only ran 12.80s.

I guess it would help to have all your mods. I'll try to give a comparison since I have a Powerdyne 6lb unit also in a 95 z-28.

Full interior
BFG drag radials
3.73 rear gears
air bag in passenger side rear spring
6 speed manual

Best of 12.2@114.5 with a 1.8x 60 foot.

Hope this helps.
