I am looking for any pics showing the placement of the unit. Any and all pics are appreciated.

I have had this P600B at my house for almost a year and a half. I kind of lost hope after it initially didn't fit. A friend of mine, proficient at fabrication, is helping me now so I have renenewed faith that this can work.

It is for an LT1, which is in my car, but it sits too low. It interferes with the steering gear. So, we are changing it over to a rack and pinion. Well, we thought that would fix it along with the tubular kmember but it is still too tight when you throw the inlet tube for the unit down there.

I was thinking they made the chargers sit up high in the 3rd gens and with the same bolt pattern in the heads, I am hoping I can make a bracket from one of them to work. Any pulley alignment issues could be solved with shorter/longer spacers.

If anyone can help with pics or suggestions, please do. I am ready for boost!

Thanks, Mike

it mounts next to the alternator (up high on the driver side) on the third gens. Go over to www.thirdgen.org and do a search in the power adder section and you should find plenty of pictures.

just buy a bracket from an ATI dealer.....that is the simplest and fastest way to get you going

I called ATI. They don't make a bracket for LT1s that put the charger up high. It also doesn't look like my charger will fit on the 3rd gen bracket.

I may have to make one

The LT1 bracket puts the charger too low in the car. It interferes with the steering gear. So I said, let's convert to rack and pinion which would have required crossmember modification. I chose to buy an aftermarket kmember to make the rack swap easier. It will be easier but I still won't have enough room for the inlet tube and steering stuff. So I want to mount the charger up high in the car. Plus, I can straighten the air flow out going to the charger instead of having it all kinked up trying to get to the front of the car. If I had a digi cam you would understand better.

OK.

now i can start trying to give some suggestions. Is there any reason why you cant use thirdgen accesory brackets and make them work with the LT1 setup?

THEN

you could just buy a thirdgen ATI bracket and call it a day

Is the 3rd gen blower run off of a separate pulley that bolts onto the stock damper. Or, does it run in line with the stock accessories? If it has its own pulley off the crank, why would I need to use 3rd gen accessory brackets?

The pictures that I saw had the blower about where I want it. The unit itself looks different externally and so I didn't think the blower would bolt to the 3rd gen bracket. Are there any kits for 3rd gens that use the p600b blower?

My friend who is helping me said we would be able to cut the bracket I have or add to it to get it to work like I want but I haven't looked at it like that since the car is at his house right now.

Thanks, Mike

all blower kits use an extra pulley that bolts to the dampner. Yes the base kit for the thirdgen is the P1SC (used to be P600B). The reason i said about the accesory brackets is because bolts to the drive side head in front of the accesory bracket

So are the sc I am seeing on the 3rd gens a newer model? Is the p600b unit the same exact piece for the 3rd gens?

It seems easier to modify my bracket instead of transferring all the 3rd gen accessories to the LT1. I haven't done any measuring but I doubt that they would even line up with the damper. Also, pulley ratios probably aren't the same.
