Headers and Exhuast on rear mount turbo?
Headers and Exhuast on rear mount turbo?
On a rear mount turbo setup would headers and exhuast help out any. I was thinking that manifolds and stock exhuast might be better because the manifolds would retan more heat and the stock exhuast would speed up the flow of the hot gases and increase the velocity of the exhaust hitting the turbine wheel. Any thoughts on this?
Re: Headers and Exhuast on rear mount turbo?
im running the STS rear mount GT67 i have mid-length headers and a flowmaster intermediate pipe. its spools just fine with the exhaust i have and i talked to STS for a good 2 weeks before i bought my kit and i talked to different sales reps and they all said that the headers might actually help spool a lil quicker because reguardless rather you have stock manifolds or headers the exhaust temp by the time it reaches the turbo is pretty simular to one another. im sure mine would spool alot faster if i didnt have 4.11s............... (really wish i was gonna go turbo a year ago)

If you have stock exhaust, I would stick with it and save the $ for other needed supporting parts. We haven't seen significant differences with headers, but there propably is a slight improvement. Worth the money? Up to you.

i do agree one thing that i have heard that helps a lil is header wrap from the y-pipe back to the turbo donno if its noticable but im gonna try it out b/c i have like 50 feet of that wrap somewhere in the garage and it was free so why not?
