Head gaskets

Does anyone have any PERSONAL experience with copper head gaskets/o-rings? My turbo buddy swears by that setup but I'm concerned that it will not seal coolant etc. well enough for street use. His theory is that when people advise against their use they always say "I know a guy" then tell you they leak! So any experiences you can share would be very helpful.
My next question is, are any of you guys using Cometic MLS gaskets with boost in the 15-20 psi range with success? I blew two head gaskets with 8 psi (with high mile L98) this past summer and don't want to deal with that again! Thanks for any info, Steve

Re: Head gaskets

I know a guy and its me I'll never do it again I have never been able to get them to completly seal I have it to the point where it just seeps under boost not very noticable unless your on the dyno their is always a small puddle under the car when i take it off the rollers. Go with the Cometic gaskets they will hold big boost.

Re: Head gaskets

All I can say is DON'T DO IT I ran copper two years and 20000 km resealed heads twice changed gasket once tried silicone hylomar I finally got the coolant under control by running purple ice and water with GM tablets.

Still weeps oil from china rain between head and block after about 20 hot cold cycles.

Have friends running 15 pounds with no leaks using felpro 1074.

Now building another short with another engine builder that is not o ringed. The reason I did it in the first place, recommended by ARE (thanks)
