Most LS1's with 5psi make in the 420rwhp range...I would have a hard time believeing an LT1 (with less cam and less head flow) will make the same power as an ls1 on 5psi.

I'm sure it's possible, dyno's can't be made to read whatever, atleast not DynoJet's, thats why you have to see dyno sheets to make sure there was no corrections made

The other thing, although many STS cars do perform well on the dyno, I notice they have high peak numbers, one LS1 we dynoed had about 390rwhp and peaked at like 430 I believe, it's like a spike, don't know why STS setups have that, guess which number is read as peak? 430 of coarse, while the graph fell right off after that, so it was decent power at 390rwhp but it was peaky, so average 390 after 5krpm or so.

However, I do have an idea about the peak, the reason being cuz it's a dyno jet so it's not loaded, and a turbo setup can't give out accurate numbers unless it's loaded, so you get these weird spiky peaks that don't give the real numbers.

I say you have to go to the track or a mustang dyno to load her up to the ****, then after you get a reading, devide it by the extra multiplier factor caused by the load and it'll give you the actual real numbers.

Resurrecting this thread. Anyone else have a STS kit installed on their stock LT1? What are the power numbers?

Buddy had sts car but no dyno or track runs. Car ran well though. It would destroy my 96z vert but my vert was mildly modded at the time with stall, 3.42 gears, catback, underdrive, bigger tb,air induction. I don't have some of the mods listed in my car yet. The cam ,rockers and headers or nitrous are not installed yet. Waiting on heads to finish up the mods.

I would guess his car was putting out around 400 or so at the engine possibly 425. At 5psi dont think it can touch the usual 500 or so that ls1s can put out.The ls1 are about 75hp stronger then the lt1 in reality. I know I have ls1 and lt1. You could go to 7 or 7.5 psi and that should give more like 500 or maybe a bit more hp. Ls1 again get around 500rwhp with 7.5 or so psi. Another buddy with bit done up lt1 stock displacement with think headers and procharger at 8psi still lost to ls1 buddy with around 420rwhp NA.
He upped his boost trying to beat the ls1 and blew the stock pistons to hell.
The stock pistons are weak in the ls1 and lt1 for forced induction use.
Sts camaro buddy also belw his lt1 up by mistake with his greddy boost controller.

Other buddy has ls1 with sts and that car goes good at only 5psi. Seems like it could have 500 engine pretty easily. Its six speed which helps a bit less power loss over auto.

The sts systems work well I think. Some disadvantages mainly with ground clearance.
Also think they are a bit overpriced these days. I plan on a procharger mabye someday on my 96z. I have enough turbo cars now to keep me happy.

I installed mine about 2.5 years ago, and it still runs well. I had it tuned at Speed Inc, and it pulled 378/399 on the dyno at 7 psi boost, no meth, and no intercooler. My track times have not been impressive, with a best of 12.996 @112, with a crappy 2.15 6O foot time. Hopefully the stall converter will help out. Overall it works pretty well, although I am not a fan of their mounting strategy. Mine always hung low, so my dad and I fab'd a bracket to stiffen it up and raise it slightly. I'm building a forged 383 for boost this winter, so I don't care if the current motor lets go or not. You may not be able to take that chance.
