Smile Got boost? Video clip of the 'Bird.

Here's a short clip of the 'Bird. I still have a little work to do. The hood, bumper, and head light covers are being painted. The intercooler tubing will be media blasted and powder coated as well. Making a 3 inch y-pipe with oval tubing that will be ceramic coated to match the rest of the exhaust. I drove it for about 2 miles the other day. Don't worry, I drove the car with the hood, bumper, and head light covers still on the car. I'm not a hillbilly. Hopefully it'll be ready to go on the dyno in a few weeks.

Great looking setup!

Couple of questions...

What heads are on the car?
If you don't mind me asking, what did the engine cost? I assume it's the Brutus from FLP?
What are you doing to get air to the intercooler? Did you cut the bumper at all?

Very impressive setup!

One question, why the 4.11's gears.?

I had a question as well. Looking at where you mounted the intercooler how are you going to get air flow to it? Did you modify your front bumper? I need to come up with a promising way to way to mount a FMIC on a T/A without chopping up the front bumper.

They are LT1 head with a lot of work.

Call Scott at Midwest Engine Tech (815-464-9490) for engine pricing as every application is different.

The bumper support has been removed and I fabricated brackets to mount the intercooler. The actual bumper cover has been modified to allow air to reach the intercooler.

I will post pics of the car when it is completed.

Why not? I do have a 6 speed and I managed a 1.49 60 foot time years ago with the old set up (500 rwhp) and a stock front suspension.

Great, I'm VERY curious to see what the bumper cover looks like, as I'm looking to cut/modify mine as well.

You'll probably end up doing the same thing as I did. I don't think that removing the fog lights will be enough. I'lll post pics of the finished bumper cover.

Oh ok, so you went with those gears to get out of the hole quicker.I was always under the assumtion you wanted numerically smaller gears so you would stay in boost longer?.

I'll have no problem with boost. Procharger F1 with 18 psi.

There's always 5th gear, right? I can always put a 28 inch tire on it. I'll have to play it by ear. That's the least of my concerns now.

Re: Got boost? Video clip of the 'Bird.

How high does that thing spin to? Big cam or small one? Hydraulic or solid?

If you spin it high enough those gears can possibly work fine with 28" tires.

Re: Got boost? Video clip of the 'Bird.

I planned on running a 28.8" tire and with 3.73's in 4th gear 140mph would be approximately 6200rpm. Unless you plan on shifting at 7k i suspect you may need 5th gear anyway.

It'll spin to 6700 rpms. Pretty decent size hydraulic cam. Nothing too big.
