Once again, 71 Camaro, want to supercharge a crate. Just realized that the ZZ4 will have around 10:1 compression (I really don't want to deal with detonation), it still may work, but I will have to tune the engine constantly and really mess with the timing. Does anyone have suggestions on a good crate engine for blown applications? I want to make sure I am running a good combination of the engine and the supercharger so I won't have to worry too much about breaking parts in the engine. Any good performing Engines from 8.5-9:1 compression? Thanks for the help.

 

centrifugal or roots style?

speedomotive has some good deals on assembled SBC blower motors.

 

gm performance parts has some crate engines that i believe may be forged internally, at least i know i have seen some cranks that were forged in those, and they are 8.5 to 9.5 in compression. hope that helps
